the victim gets to hospital.

8-12 minutes.

- 38% of deaths are caused by heart disease and
stroke.
- Over 3,000,000 Canadians suffer from heart or
blood vessel disease.
The "SOS Life-Saving
Program" includes:
Training -SOS
EMERGENCY RESPONSE TRAINING
- Duration: 1 to 1 ½ hour - We limit the
course to 1 ½ hour, as it is easier for the employer to
arrange training either before or after work. Most employees are
eager to attend, as the length of the course is easily fitted
into their schedule.
- Who Can Attend? Our goal is to have 90% of your
staff instructed on how to handle a medical emergency in the work
and home environment.
- This training is an in-depth training on life
threatening emergencies only. We do not teach how to sling an
arm or clean a wound, these are not considered life threatening.
We teach important life-saving skills.
- Each candidate will receive an attestation and
first aid guide.
Course Topics Include:
- Why should oxygen be given during an emergency?
- How to help the victim of shock
- Demonstration of the SOS emergency oxygen
inhalator
- How to use the SOS emergency oxygen inhalator

The result is a well-trained staff able to handle
and stabilize the victim in a medical emergency until the arrival
of the paramedics.
Employees certified in standard first aid will
find the ERT course a valuable review of emergency procedures. It
will also retrain the employees who have attended the semi-annual
ERT course. We have found that our ERT course, conducted twice a
year, serve to keep the employees knowledgeable of the first aid
procedures.
